LIVE FREE is currently supporting a Black Muslim mother in West Sacramento who is dealing with continued harassment from CPS. Other/Miscellaneous

LIVE FREE will soon be presenting a 'soft launch' of our countywide CourtWatch program. If you are interested in participating in this program, and signing up for a weekly CourtWatch slot, please reach out to Kaleemah at kaleemah@sacact.org.

CourtWatch serves as a platform for community to come together to observe the judicial process and gather information on court outcomes, in an effort to identify patterns and practices that may contribute to systemic inequity. In a County whose jail population is nearly 40% Black despite Black residents making up only 11% of the population, and one in which 60% of incarcerated people haven’t yet been convicted of a crime, tracking the moments that lead up to that discrepancy is crucial. Through observing court proceedings and tracking patterns, CourtWatch aims to educate the public on the judicial process, and promote a transparent and fair judicial system.
