1st Annual Spring Reception for Big Day of Giving

Last Thursday, May 7th, we gathered for our 1st Annual Spring Reception—a wonderful evening that reminded us what community looks like when we come together with intention.
Our director of operations, Diana, opened with a welcome—a meaningful moment as she stepped into the spotlight for the first time on our agenda (usually she's the one shouting at the end to make sure no one leaves without taking home leftovers!). Pastor Karen grounded us in prayer, setting the tone for connection and purpose. Executive Director Tere shared updates on our current work before introducing Adriana, who moved us with her personal leadership development story. Mark shared why he donates to Sacramento ACT—a touching account of witnessing injustice at his doorstep and discovering his calling to act through our Parkside Local organizing committee, thanks to a connection with our own Marji. Marji is a wonderful ACT leader, organizing with the Parkside LOC. The evening concluded with gratitude, mingling, and delicious charcuterie and desserts graciously provided by Adriana and Norma—two of our incredible community leaders leading organizing efforts across Sacramento ACT's local committees.
What unfolded that night—and what continued through Big Day of Giving—was the power of collective action.
Together, our community raised $6,895.46, falling just $104.54 short of our $7,000 goal. Thanks to the generosity of one of our dedicated volunteers who stepped up to meet that gap, we achieved our $7,000 goal. Even more meaningful: 16 brand-new donors joined us for the first time, expanding the circle of people committed to our mission.
Because of your support, we were able to continue developing community leaders, providing organizing training, and walking alongside individuals and families through accompaniment.
As we move forward from our Spring Event and Big Day of Giving, we remain committed to growing this work with intention, care, and genuine community partnership.
Thank you for standing with SacACT. We are grateful to have you with us in this work.
If you need a charcuterie board or dessert for an upcoming event, reach out to Diana to get connected with these generous community leaders, Adriana and Norma.
