Favorite quote or scripture related to justice:

“O you who believe, be persistently steadfast in your devotion to Allah (God), be witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just, for that is nearer to righteousness. And be mindful of God. Indeed, Allah is all aware of what you do.”

- Qur’an (Chapter 5: Verse 8)

What does justice mean to you?

Justice is what love looks like in public.  My understanding of justice is rooted in my faith of Islam’s teachings that God is the Most Just, and each human being has a mutual responsibility to work towards justice and to stop injustice from occurring to the best of our abilities.

Favorite thing about Sacramento:

For a large city, Sacramento has a unique small-town vibe, giving me hope for the many possibilities for transformation and social change we can enact here.

Who is your justice superhero?

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him
