Favorite quote or scripture related to justice:

“Dear brothers, dear friends, from this holy place I make a heartfelt plea to all people and to all communities who look to Abraham: may we respect and love one another as brothers and sisters! May we learn to understand the sufferings of others! May no one abuse the name of God through violence! May we work together for justice and peace! Salaam!”

—Pope Francis, 5/26/14

What does justice mean to you?

Justice is the love of neighbor preached by Jesus put into effect. It is the Golden Rule practiced.

It is what lawmakers, legal systems, corporations, other authorities, and ourselves as individuals implement when we hold the dignity of every person and the common good higher than our own comfort and convenience.

What is the most powerful thing you have been a part of at ACT?

The spontaneous joining together of our varied campaigns and religious/ethnic communities to address common concerns with full participation of all.

Who is your justice superhero?

Oscar Hammerstein II has been a hero of mine for a long time. Consider the stories and lyrics in South Pacific and Showboat and Sound of Music and The King and I which he wrote. I see him as shining a lot of light into the darkness.
